Topic Science Social Studies Math Language Arts Intervention
General Assignment for Each Subject Area Choose a planet, dwarf star, or spacial anomaly as a home world for your super hero. Choose a second (different) one for your villain. You will need to research and list 10 facts about that home world before you can continue the project. Also create 5 fiction ideas about your home world. Your character will have weaknesses and abilities based on those facts. You will turn this assignment in to each teacher. Use at least 5 vocabulary words from this section of your textbook and underline them in your fact list. Choose a time period in which your super hero and villain will live. Your choices are: during the Revolutionary War, During the Civil War, During WWI, WWII, Vietnam, or the Gulf War. You will need to research and list 10 facts about that era before you can continue the project. Your character will have weaknesses and abilities based on those facts. You will turn this assignment in to each teacher. Use at least 5 vocabulary words from this section of your textbook and underline them in your fact list. Turn in each of your other required papers to your math teacher. We will roll dice to determine characteristics of your hero and villain AFTER all your background research has been completed. We will conduct math battles using fraction, mixed number, and whole number dice. Write a narrative describing your characters history. Where are they from? When did they live? How did they discover their powers? What are their powers and weaknesses? Who is their enemy (foe, adversary)? See suggestions and examples we will provide. Underline all adjectives and circle sentence subjects. This paper will be turned in to each of your teachers! You will present your characters in any format you choose: Comic book, poster board, power point, slide show, etc. You may draw or sketch your characters or use links provided below to create them online. Key Dates and Information. Assigned as homework on 5/3 and 5/6 due the next class period. We can add assignments such as chemical weaknesses or chemicals the hero or villain uses to fight their foes. We can also assign a "weapons" sheet as well We can assign students to create a comic book and determine what fraction of the book uses certain types of frames, or what fraction of the book contains ______? We will do most of the math portion IN class as the dice battles. Should be assigned after you receive copies of the students homework from 5/3 - 5/6. There are unlimited things the students can do for LA. Write about a battle with the foe underline one part of speech, circle another, use x # of vocabulary words. Etc. All assignments should be shown to all teachers. Presentation skills are key here. Students could have a notebook with all of their assignments regarding this project in the binder or folder.
To save your character as an image in HeroMachine 2 you have to use a screen-capture utility. Press ALT-PrintScreen in Windows or Command+Shift+3 on a Mac to capture the entire screen image (including your character) to the clipboard.
