Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Leaders,

There is a light in this nation—bright, consistent, and quietly transformative. It’s called Job Corps, and it shines through the lives of tens of thousands of vibrant students and the tireless professionals who support them each and every day.

Right now, that light is in danger.

The proposed elimination of Job Corps funding threatens not just a program, but a lifeline. A bridge. A second chance. For so many young people—especially those from underserved, underprivileged, and disadvantaged communities—Job Corps is the beginning of everything. It’s where they gain skills, earn certifications, receive mentorship, and most importantly—believe that success is possible.

These are not just students. These are future nurses, welders, cybersecurity analysts, carpenters, electricians, and entrepreneurs. They are dreamers who just needed a hand, not a handout. And Job Corps gave them one—through structure, accountability, planning, and real-world skills that lead to careers, not just jobs.

Let’s not forget: George Foreman was once a Job Corps student. He didn’t just become a heavyweight champion—he became a symbol of what’s possible when someone invests in you.

Across the country, thousands of dedicated staff and center operators work with quiet heroism. They aren’t just administrators or instructors. They are lifelines. They are the difference-makers—opening doors that would have otherwise remained closed.

This isn’t a political issue. It’s a people issue. Cutting Job Corps doesn’t save money—it costs futures. It displaces staff. It disrupts families. It pulls the rug out from those who are already trying to stand on solid ground.

I called my representatives—have you?

When we get lost in the service of others, we find ourselves. Let’s not lose a generation that’s fighting for a chance. Let’s fight with them.

Pick up the phone. Email your Congressional leaders. Call your connections. Share this message. Let them know:

Job Corps works. And we won’t stay silent while it’s under threat.

With urgency and hope,
Sid Curry

Great question, Sid. How much money have you earned? Year-end is the perfect time to assess your personal net worth. Ideally, your assets should grow faster than your debts, signaling progress in building wealth. But if your analysis shows the opposite, it might be time to make some changes.

Remember, it’s not just about how much you earn—it’s about how much you keep, save, invest, and grow while living the life you want.

Surprising Trends in American Spending Habits You Need to Know 12/17/2024

: Consumer spending accounts for about 70% of the U.S. economy. That spending is divided into two major categories: non-discretionary spending, i.e., necessities like food, medicine, housing, and clothing, and discretionary spending, which includes all non-essential goods and services.

Economic factors such as inflation, which drives up prices, and seasonal events like the holidays when we see deep retail discounts can significantly impact spending. What Americans buy and what percentage of their purchases are spent on non-essentials reflects their interests, habits, and vices.

So here's the question: where did your money go this year? Did most of it go toward essentials, or did you find yourself overspending on non-essentials? Having an honest conversation with yourself—and your family—about spending habits is a crucial step toward setting better financial goals for the year ahead. https://bit.ly/4gvH8DM

42% of Americans go shopping to treat themselves at least once a month, and 21% do so at least once a week. Are you one of them?

With a shift toward online retail, the growth of social media, and the rise of inflation, the experience of going shopping has changed over time, as have Americans’ spending habits.

To learn more about what’s motivating consumers to spend (and scrimp), Empower surveyed 1,000 Americans across different income levels and generations. The findings show how people adjust their daily expenses in response to wider economic and lifestyle trends. Click to read more: https://bit.ly/4g7s3Zl
