HOW to HOLD OVER Blooms for a show? You may have noticed that daffodil blooms don't like those hot temps like we had last week in middle TN. (90's in March? Really?) This cool spell now will slow things down, not a bad thing since our show at Cheekwood is March 28-29.

I've put daffs I've picked out some nights when the temps are above freezing to keep them fresh longer. Do you have a cool spot in your house? Basement, garage? I have ousted one veggie drawer of the fridge so far to try to save a few of the best flowers there. I'll try a damp towel underneath so they don't dry out.

My florist fridge is not working and I don't have another non frost-free fridge. Maybe get a dorm fridge for the minis? Keep flowers in a cooler with some ice or an ice pack? There are lots of ways to save those blooms for the show (or any other occasion). Please comment if you have other methods.

Our MTDS meeting is tomorrow, March 15, at 3:00 at Cheekwood in the Frist Learning Center, the Bradford Room. Enter through the back gated entrance off Cheek Road. No entrance admission is required to attend the meeting, just tell the gate person that's what you're there for. We will have Show Schedules available and will address and questions about daffodils and about the upcoming show on March 28-29. Photo of very early daffodils picked on March 3rd. Bouquets were gifted and others saved for daffodil talks.
