“The child’s type of mind is an absorbing mind; it absorbs whatever is around it. An adult’s mind elaborates. We call the child’s mind the absorbent mind. It is a mind endowed with special psychic powers, which we lose later, because whatever we adults want to acquire we have to acquire with effort and fatigue. ”
Maria Montessori, The 1946 London Lectures

At Sage, the classroom teachers aren’t just good with children; they are highly trained experts in child development and in Montessori education.
Both Stephanie and Margaret hold Master’s degrees in education and Montessori teaching credentials from the American Montessori Society. Along with this, they completed MACAR 1 training (Montessori Applied to Children at Risk) together in 2021 to give them more tools to support diverse learning needs. This is their seventh school year teaching together as a team.
What difference does this make, you may wonder. Both teachers are equipped to guide the classroom as a whole and support the diverse individual needs of the children in their care. Here is what one family shared about their experience as Sage:
“Having twins with different needs can be a challenge, but Sage Montessori has met each of our girls where they’re at and encouraged us as parents every step of the way. Our girls are thriving and I am so grateful to the teachers who see their potential, nurture and build upon it every day!”
As a nonprofit, we rely on supporters like you to help fund:

The Bee the Change Recurring Donor Campaign exists to make Montessori education accessible for all families, not just those who can afford full tuition. Because the need for lower-cost spots is greater than our current resources, recurring donations provide the stability to plan ahead, open more spaces for children from lower-income families, and keep equity at the center of our mission. Monthly giving means we can reliably build a community where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

“There is an age when children play; we call it the age of play. But what is play if not to do those things which entail the movement of the hands? Children need to touch, to move all the things which they find in the environment.”
Maria Montessori, The 1946 London Lectures
