Little eyes are learning eyes! 👀💛

Since August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month, we’re celebrating the many ways children use their vision every day—from discovering new books and creating artwork to playing with friends and exploring their surroundings.

Here are a few simple ways families can support healthy eyes:
• Encourage outdoor play and regular breaks from screens
• Choose age-appropriate toys and supervise play with items that could cause eye injuries
• Protect little eyes from the sun with a hat and sunglasses that block UVA and UVB rays
• Pay attention to signs such as frequent squinting, head tilting, rubbing eyes, or avoiding books and close-up activities

If you have concerns about your child’s vision, consider speaking with their pediatrician or eye-care professional. Early attention can make a meaningful difference in a child’s learning and development.

Wednesdays are extra special in our classroom because F***y Frog comes to read with us!

First, F***y reads to our scholars, and then it’s their turn to read to F***y! Scholars choose a book, get comfortable with their favorite reading buddy, and practice becoming confident readers.

Our weekly F***y Frog reading time encourages a love of books, reading confidence, oral language, storytelling, book handling, and early literacy skills—without making reading feel like a chore.

And the best part? F***y is an excellent listener. 😂🐸❤️

At Schrader, we want our scholars to know that reading isn’t just something we have to learn to do. Reading is something we GET to enjoy. 📚❤️
