Athletic Director of the Year has a nice ring to it. 🏆
Congratulations to our very own Valencia Jordan on this well-deserved honor from the HBCU Athletic Conference.
"I am humbled to be honored by my peers to be voted the HBCU Athletic Conference AD of the Year. We have some outstanding leaders in the conference so I will cherish this. This is a shared award with our staff, coaches, student-athletes and the support of President Clark and her staff,” says AD Jordan.
Fisk Athletics continues to rise, and strong leadership is a big part of the story.

160 years of pioneering what’s possible doesn’t stop now.
The questions being raised about data centers and AI infrastructure are fair ones. We’ve been asking them too — for years, long before this announcement. This plan is our answer.
The Quantum Leap Innovation Center sits on land Fisk has owned for over 160 years, governed by an institution whose mission has always been education and community — not shareholder returns. It’s LEED certified, designed to not burden the neighborhood’s grid, its water, or its peace, and sized for academic purpose rather than industrial scale.
The alternative to Fisk building this isn’t no data center in North Nashville. It’s someone else’s — without the mission, without the accountability, and without this community at the center of the decision.
This is who we are. This is how we do it. And we’re just getting started.

Yesterday, Fisk welcomed acclaimed author Jesmyn Ward to campus for a powerful conversation kicking off our Summer Reading Program, in an event presented in partnership with Parnassus Books.
Centered on her latest essay collection, On Witness and Respair — a reflection on grief, survival, race, and the transformative power of storytelling — the evening felt deeply at home here.
Joined by author ZZ Packer, Ward reminded us that bearing witness and finding our way back to hope aren’t just literary themes. They’re a practice. And Fisk has always known that.

160 years of excellence didn’t happen by accident. It happened because every generation of Fisk dared to imagine what came next.

Sons and daughters of Fisk don’t just collect a diploma when they walk across that stage. They graduate into something. Into friendships that last decades, networks that open every door, and an education that never stops revealing itself.
Alumni Weekend welcomed Fiskites from near and far — including the Golden Class of 1976 — back home to 17th Ave.
Some investments are just priceless.
