As a Dual Language Immersion Magnet school, we believe being bilingual is a superpower - it means more than speaking another language, it means that our students can read, write, speak AND think in another language. We believe (and know) the skills our students are developing are the skills that will open doors to the world and prepare them to be global citizens in our world.

We see this every day in our classrooms, hallways and with our families.

Sound on for this! This week we kicked off our Spanish language classes! This is a short glimpse of the fun students had meeting their Spanish teacher this year!

Students learned about where she was from, all the countries that speak Spanish AND got to see a small part of Columbia!

As a Dual Language Immersion Magnet School, our students in non-DLI classrooms still get to experience the Spanish language and culture. Stay tuned for more glimpses of our Spanish classes across all our grade levels.

Kindergarten Families this is an opportunity for you!

We are excited to announce the first Kinder Learning Program Workshop will be held August 25th from 3:30 - 4:30 pm. Check in at the front office and meet us in The Community Room.

This hands-on workshop will focus on strengthening your student’s skills at home. Workshops focus on building skills in 6 areas: self-care, social-emotional, communication, motor skills, literacy, and math.

We are excited to have you join us! Free childcare is provided. Check out the Remind app for more info and to RSVP.

Great opportunity from the Office of English Learners!

The Office of English Learners offers free English classes for MNPS families. These classes help adults improve their English skills while building stronger connections with schools, teachers, and other families.

Participants gain tools for success in work, education, and everyday life. Classes also include occasional enrichment sessions from community partners, offering access to valuable local resources.

* Classes meet once a week from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. from September 10, 2026 through April 29, 2027.

We are also excited to announce that through the generous support of MNPS and PENCIL, all supplies for Kindergarten and 1st grade have been provided directly to teachers, ensuring that students will have everything they need for a successful start to the school year!
