Last week we had our Peace by Piece gallery reception. One of the most meaningful parts of this gallery was hearing the stories behind the work.

Each knitted piece in the Peace by Piece gallery reflects an individual’s relationship with God. All the pieces joined together celebrate shared experiences, unique perspectives and each person’s creativity. It was a beautiful reminder how we all contribute to something bigger than ourselves.

🧶Thank you to everyone who joined this reception and shared their story through this project.

Step inside The Architecture of Prayer, an exhibition curated by architect, researcher, and sacred space consultant Amanda Iglesias. Through an international survey of contemporary church architecture, the exhibition explores how design shapes worship, community, and spiritual experience, inviting viewers to consider the relationship between faith and the built environment.

The Architecture of Prayer is on view in Gallery 121 from August 19 through October 23, with an opening reception on September 10 at 4:30 PM. We invite you to experience this thought-provoking exhibition and join the conversation about architecture, imagination, and sacred space.

Faculty Spotlight: Jack Latham!

Latham has been a freelance photographer since the age of 19. He grew up in Cardiff, Wales (NOT ENGLAND!) and prior to coming to Belmont, was an assistant professor at University of West of England in Bristol, UK.

Latham was attracted to Belmont and the opportunity to teach and work alongside students. His favorite class to teach is Documentary Photography, and he is frequently inspired by the work of Watkins students.

Much of his work focuses on new technologies and conspiracy theories. He has published five books and was the 2015 recipient of the Bartur Photo Award. When Latham is not teaching you might find him at his favorite Nashville hang, Biscuit Love in Hillsborough Village.

Jack and his wife Sofia Krysiak are launching a publishing company called ā€œTerrible Babyā€ in 2026.

Fun Fact: Professor Latham’s full name is ā€œJack Daniel Lathamā€, named after Tennessee’s finest!
