Six String Country We get out of bed each morning to try to create the highest quality song-based guitar lessons in the We love a song. We learn a song. We play a song. Learn it.

Sometimes we play it for ourselves, and sometimes we are able to share it with the world. In our experience, that's why learning the guitar is fun. Songs are communicative, and when a song speaks to us we can't help but want to participate in the experience. e do. There is an important place for learning the basics, and we'll help you with that as well, but we'll never lose site of what makes us pick up that guitar time and time again... Love it. Play it.

I was about 19 years old and was auditioning for a big label touring act at one of the major rehearsal stages in Nashville (I didn't get the job - you don't win them all, kids). I played with the band for about 30 minutes and someone came in and insisted that we stop and walk down the hall. Dolly Parton was rehearsing her band a couple of rooms over. Everyone involved was huddled around the door just listening to her sing in awe.

There will never be another Dolly Parton. Thanks for great songs, Dolly. Our tribute lesson on Jolene is ready to learn at SSC.

We've had some requests for some steel videos, so here's a behind the scenes look at the pedal steel intro for a Hank, Jr. song and the process of turning it into an electric guitar part.

As I often say in the lesson videos, if you have a pedal steel player in band, sit back and listen to it sing! Give your fingers a break. Often, though, we don't have a pedal steel player to play with the band live and the electric guitar is responsible for covering these lines. The same idea applies to the fiddle and keyboard parts we cover in the lessons.

In a perfect world, we can have a full 8 piece band for every show, but in the real world, it doesn't always work out that way.
