Overbrook is owned and operated by The Dominican Sisters of St. Overbrook is a private, co-educational, Catholic school for pre-k through sixth-grade students where children grow in grace and knowledge. Founded in 1936, Overbrook is committed to providing an atmosphere in which children can grow to their fullest potential in all areas: spiritually, intellectual, cultural, physical and social. Stud

ents at all levels study religion, art, foreign language, music, computer and physical education in addition to the advanced core curriculum. Parents are an active part of the school, providing hundreds of volunteer hours each year for such events as the annual school musical, book fair, field day, faith rally and more. Extra-curricular activities aim to allow children the chance to further explore their areas of interests whether it is in art, in speech and debate, in music, in athletics, in Scouts or in service. Overbrook graduates go on to attend Nashville’s top high schools and the nation’s best colleges, but more importantly they carry with them a strong Catholic faith foundation and a respect for others that lasts a lifetime.

As we celebrate 90 years of Overbrook Catholic School, join us in looking back on the wonders the Lord has done in our community. Throughout our anniversary year, we’ll be sharing photos from the past 90 years on social media. Follow along as we remember the people, moments, and milestones that have shaped Overbrook!

In 1961, the Most Reverend William L. Adrian, seventh bishop of Nashville, dedicated and blessed Overbrook Elementary School following the completion of our school building.

65 years later, Father Mark Chrismer has continued that tradition, blessing our faculty, staff, students, and spaces as we begin a new school year.

From 1936 to 2026, we are grateful for the many ways the Lord has blessed Overbrook, and we look forward to all He has in store.

The community came together in Nashville on Saturday, August 8, as the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia welcomed the Hillbilly Thomists to The Dominican Campus for a special celebration of the feast of St. Dominic.
