Morgan Co. REMC is conducting training on

LIVE WIRE

When: 9:00 AM Wednesday, July 17th Where: 231 E Main St. Nashville, IN. In the Middle School north parking lot, just east of the Nashville Volunteer Fire Department.

Parking will be across the street and around the west side of the VFD at the maintenance garage lot. NPD is north 1 block for additional parking. Training is approximately 30 mins with question and answer afterwards. See Nashville PD for an ILEA sign in roster.

There will be LE officers, VFD, School transportation drivers, Highway workers, EMS drivers, and wrecker drivers in attendance.

The Institute will be conducting an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Class starting February 6th.

Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Class
The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course is a 10-week course designed to prepare the individual to work as an EMR and initiate immediate life-saving care to those in need who have accessed the EMS system. The EMR has the basic working knowledge and skills necessary to function at that level and provide life-saving care while waiting for additional EMS resources. The course prepares attendees to perform patient assessment, airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated external defibrillator, oxygen administration, bandaging, splinting, hemorrhage control, childbirth, and spinal immobilization. As well, the EMR can assist higher level EMS personnel at the scene and during transport. The EMR is an integral part of the comprehensive Emergency Medical System who functions under medical direction and oversight to provide basic interventions with minimal resources.

*Students will have to provide their own textbook or e-book. Physical textbooks will be available with a $100 deposit. (fee refunded upon successful completion of the course and return of undamaged book)

Today’s swift water rescue training was standing room only! Firefighters from 5 different departments, Nashville Police Officers, Brown County Sheriff’s Deputies, EMS and several dispatchers attended this amazing training as our first responders train together to keep our community safe.

On Saturday, firefighters from 13 counties and representing 27 departments and agencies descended on Brown County to see a free seminar given by the one and only Chief Rick Lasky. Chief Lasky is a nationally renowned speaker and author whose seminars and classes about topics ranging from the future of volunteerism to leadership are invaluable to firefighters both new and old. The presentation given on Saturday focused on two main topics: “The Volunteer Firefighter: Defining Commitment” and “Sweating the Small Stuff: Keeping your People Safe and Alive”. Firefighters were also able to participate in various group Fireground Scenarios. A big thank you to the Bartholomew County Fire Chiefs Association for co-sponsoring this seminar and helping us to provide it for free!
