Salutations all!
My name is Yousef Abu-Salah, and I will be your new President for DSP, where I will attempt to resurrect and continue the great legacy set before. I am a First-Year student who's majoring in both Computer Science and Educational Studies who has lived in Flowood, Mississippi for the past eight years. I originally am from Gaza, Palestine. I love my homeland, and I love countering the occupation just as much. I hope these next few years turn out to be a fun and enriching experience for everyone :). My main vision for the club lies in service and activism through cooperations with various other organizations on campus to hopefully bring about just a bit of change in the lives of those who are struggling. There will be an interest meeting soon enough so stay tuned for updates.
Included is a random picture of me at high school graduation repping the beautiful flag. What a beautiful sight indeed.
I hope you all have a wonderful day.

March 16 marks 15 years since Rachel Corrie was killed. She died putting her body between a bulldozer and a home she was trying to protect in Gaza. She has inspired so many and we salute her and those who carry on her legacy.

By Clasping Hands with Netanyahu, Sen. Kamala Harris Reveals Herself as Just Another 'Progressive Except For Palestine'
Harris' support for Israel doesn't square with her progressive policies at home. As the second black female senator in American history, Kamala Harris has been a pioneer in American politics. Many consider her to be a serious contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020.

"Taking a Birthright trip today means playing an active role in helping the state promote Jewish “return” while rejecting the Palestinian right of return. It is not enough to accept this offer from the Israeli government and maintain a critical perspective while on the trip. We reject the offer of a free trip to a state that does not represent us, a trip that is only “free” because it has been paid for by the dispossession of Palestinians. And as we reject this, we commit to promoting the right to return of Palestinian refugees.
As young Jews, we . We implore other young Jews on our campuses and in our communities: don’t go on a Birthright trip to Israel. Don’t take a trip sponsored by conservative donors and the Israeli government, where the ongoing oppression and occupation of Palestinians will be hidden from you, just because it’s free. There are other ways for us to strengthen our Jewish identities, in community with those who share our values. Israel is not our Birthright."
Return the Birthright."
#ReturnTheBirthright
Since 1999, the Birthright Israel program has sent over 500,000 Jewish young adults on a free ten-day trip to Israel, in the name of strengthening Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish state. But while all Jews worldwide are handed this free trip, and, furthermore, automatic citizenship if th...

Today marks the 3-year anniversary of the murder of Michael Brown who was gunned down by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. His body lay in the street for four hours and the officer who killed him was acquitted like so many other white policemen who take black life in America. The absence of justice for Brown and his family highlighted how endemic police brutality is against communities of color in the US.
As protesters took to the streets and were met with militarized police, tear gas, and vilification in the mainstream media Black Lives Matter became the rallying cry across the country and the country was forced to confront the demands of the Black liberation struggle again.
As Michael Brown lay dying in Ferguson, 6,000 miles away, Israel was pummeling the Gaza Strip in an assault that claimed the lives of 2,251 Palestinians, among them 551 children. It should come as no surprise that the same racist militarization that targets and exterminates Black life in America does the same in Palestine. Since as early as 2004, US police units, including the St. Louis Police Department, have received "counter-terrorism" training by Israeli 'security' forces. The same American-made tear gas used against Palestinian worshippers at al-Aqsa Mosque was used against protestors in Ferguson in 2014. The same impunity enjoyed by police officers who kill people of color in the US is enjoyed by Israeli 'security' forces and settlers in Palestine.
