Meet this week’s Curb College Student Spotlight, Mia Wentzel!
‌
Mia is a Senior Media and Entertainment Industries major with a minor in Sports Administration.
‌
Last Spring, Mia participated in the Belmont NYC program and interned with FOX Sports. Her time as an original programming intern for the Emmy-nominated show “First Things First” allowed her to further her understanding of sports media and the broadcasting world. Overall, New York allowed her to flourish professionally in ways that she hadn’t realized were possible. She now serves as a Belmont USA Ambassador to promote the program and help other students get the most out of their experience.

This year, Mia is excited to be working for the Tennessee Titans as a part of their student-only Street Team, furthering her skills in fan engagement and marketing. On campus, she is also thrilled to work with Belmont’s Athletic Video Crew, assisting in the ESPN+ live streams of every home game!

Did you know that the sounds you hear in movies and TV are created in a Foley studio?
‌
Emily Reynolds takes us inside Curb College’s Foley studio, where students capture dialog, sound effects, and atmospherics for the replacement and enhancement of sounds in audio, video, and film production. This room is equipped with six different “pits” with a variety of changeable surfaces as well as hundreds of “props” for creating sounds such as footsteps on grass or sand, the crunch of leaves, heels on cobblestone, and more. If you are interested in Audio Engineering Technology or Motion Picture Production, this room might be one of the many hands-on experience spaces you’ll have access to!

Last week, we had the opportunity to learn from Gabe Simon and Carrie K, producers behind Noah Kahan’s album “The Great Divide.” Students got to hear about their creative process, what it takes to bring a new album to life, and lessons learned along the way.

Our Queen of Country, Dolly Parton 🦋🤍

Dolly’s legacy extends far beyond her music. Her creativity, generosity, and entrepreneurial spirit have inspired generations of artists and made an incredible impact on the entertainment industry.
 She has also touched the Curb College community, creating meaningful opportunities for our students to learn from her career and contributions to the entertainment industry. Through the Dolly U program, our students have had the opportunity to learn more about Dolly’s remarkable career and her impact on the world.   We will forever be grateful for experiencing her extraordinary light.
