From Candling the eggs, counting and tracking days, watching them pip and then hatch we have now collaboratively shared in the responsibility of caring for and observing the amazing development of our chicks.

We will never forget cheering around the incubator as our little ones mustered the strength for their next big push.

As our year culminates we too are ready for our next big push. As we say goodbye we will stay grateful for the life lessons of the chickens 🐓

We built this center because we wanted an educational experience that is new and different for our children. We see early education as a gateway to a better future. Education is an opportunity for growth of the individual and conjointly. It is a resource for gaining knowledge and learning together. It is a meeting place where freedom, democracy, and solidarity are practiced and where the value of belonging is promoted non.

During expeditionary learning at our science center class, we learned about achieving desired behaviors through different modes of operant conditioning. Our students were then able to apply this knowledge at school when training our newly hatched baby chicks how to follow them using positive reinforcement with meal worms.
