Lawson High School, opening in August of 2023, is a new state of the art public high school located in Nashville's western boarder community of Bellevue. The school was named in honor of the life and legacy of civil rights leader, Rev. Our community's public high school history:

The Laws

on High School community has a rich history of quality public high school education fueled by parents, churches, civic organizations, community and business leaders who assured their school's arts, athletics, and academic programs were enriching and meaningful for more than 90 years. The Bellevue High School Owls were established in 1931 and remained a thriving school until the 1980 merger with Hillwood High School 5.8 miles to the east. The Hillwood High School Hilltoppers were established in 1959 and remained the western most Nashville public high school until it was closed May of 2023 to open our new Lawson High School. We are thankful for both alumni communities and look forward to their contributions to Lawson High School’s future in honor of the adults that came before them who were the lifeblood of their wonderful high school memories.
