Great opportunity for the
The National Test Prep Association is proud to commemorate the life and legacy of Jeanne Lucas, a founding member who lost her battle with cancer on February 8th, 2022, which was her birthday. Jeanne (Supa J, Word Nerd, Tough Lil’ B, and every other goofy name she ever gave herself) was a gifted educator and mentor, known for her passion for literature and the English language.
As the valedictorian of Austintown Fitch High School Class of 1992 and a graduate of Capital University and Bowling Green State, Jeanne devoted her life to educating and inspiring students. After teaching at Holy Name High School and the Sandusky Public School System, Jeanne became a highly sought-after tutor and mentor for students preparing for advanced prep school and college entrance examinations. She was hard-working, staunchly reliable, loved her job, and logged thousands of miles driving to the remotest locations all over Greater Cleveland to tutor.
Jeanne joined the Test Prep Tribe Facebook group when COVID hit, and it became her second family. She enthusiastically made many new friends, created deep connections with individuals, and became a signature member of the group, declaring “Power of the Tribe!” when working with others. She was everyone’s cheerleader, and the Tribe rallied behind her in her battle with cancer. Jeanne was the first member of the National Test Prep Association, and it became her second family.
The National Test Prep Association has established the Jeanne Lucas Memorial Scholarship in memory of Jeanne’s commitment to education and her love of literature and the English language. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher education, with a special emphasis on those who demonstrate a commitment to serving their communities through education.
Jeanne is deeply missed by her family, friends, and countless students whose lives she touched through her teachings and mentorship. The National Test Prep Association is grateful for her contributions and proud to establish the Jeanne Lucas Memorial Scholarship in her honor.
Application Information:
One-time $500 scholarships will be awarded to multiple students. This scholarship is open to all students in the high school graduating class of 2023, excluding the immediate family of NTPA members.

"Our dear friend Jeanne Lucas frequently referred to herself as a word nerd. She reveled in using lesser-known vocabulary in everyday settings. Jeanne’s love of vocabulary and grammar gave her a distinct writing style and connected her to people she never met in person. Do you consider yourself a word nerd, and how does that affect your life?"
