Congratulations to Fall-Hamilton Elementary School teacher Lauryn England, who was honored Friday as the 2026 Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year at the Elementary School Level by the Tennessee Council for the Social Studies! England, who teaches fourth grade at Fall-Hamilton, received a plaque and a check for $500 at TCSS's conference in Memphis.

"In my classroom, I strive to create engaging and meaningful social studies experiences that empower students to take ownership of their learning, spark curiosity and critical thinking, and develop the leadership skills needed to become thoughtful, productive citizens," England says. "I enjoy incorporating primary sources, interactive strategies such as songs and chants, and high-quality children’s literature to bring our grade-level standards to life. It has been a joy to collaborate with fellow social studies educators across MNPS and Tennessee throughout my teaching career."
