Please keep our city in your thoughts and prayers. Thankfully our current school was unaffected by the storm however the storm affected the community where we both previously taught. Our hearts are with those children, families teachers, and community members.

We came back to school today with so much to celebrate ... our own Mrs. McLendon is our school’s TEACHER of the YEAR!!!! Couldn’t be more proud to teach with this sweet friend and AMAZING teacher!!!!!

Who 👃🏻 what will happen on Halloween! 🎃 👻 Teaching reading for the last hour can be HARD so on this day of costumes we dressed the part when reading “What if you Had an Animal Nose?” Our kiddos found their partner by finding the group who shared the same “smelly spot” just like deer use scent to find their family. We have been studying animal senses and adaptations swipe 👉 to see the noses our kiddos sported +scents +additional text and anchor chart from this week.

We all make mistakes but it’s how we respond that is most important. This sweet book resonated with many of our ELs as it shared the experience of Farah a young girl leaning a new culture and language. Talk about text to self connections!! It also was a great tool for building empathy among our native speakers. Check out this 3 day plan with differentiated resources AND bonus materials to challenge early finishers, extend lessons, or roll into centers!
