Keeping McKendree families updated on the day care's current events! McKendree UMC Day Care offers care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
We welcome parental involvement and encourage visits during the day. Our program is open to the community and our location allows many of our families working in the downtown area to stop by on a regular basis. We pride ourselves on having a warm, caring, and inclusive community for children, families and staff.

For those of you that don't know, McKendree Church is feeding 200 members of the downtown homeless community on Christmas Eve at 11:30. A service will follow. Here is a list of items that we still need for the Christmas Eve Dinner - some of you have said you wanted to help so I am sharing. Please put in the comments if you want to donate something and what it is. I will let the team know and will get you the information you need on where to bring the items (I'm thinking the day care).

McKendree Day Care is closing at 3:00 p.m. due to the incoming winter weather. The Nashville Christmas Parade has also been cancelled.
A winter weather advisory has been issued for most of the area, including Davidson County. The advisory in Davidson County is in effect from 4 p.m. to midnight tonight. Closing early allows our families and staff to be ahead of the storm.
Please be careful as you travel; a winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties -- please be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities.

On Dec. 3 and 4, McKendree UMC Day Care is hosting a children's bike drive in partnership with Hands On Nashville! Bring in your used children's bikes (or your neighbor's!) and drop them off in the lobby. Hands On Nashville volunteers will fix up the bikes and give them to deserving kids in the spring. Learn more about this effort at www.hon.org/recyclebikes.

Sharing this cute daily report from one of the Young Toddler Rooms: "This morning we went to the roof and checked out the rain. We took several pieces of dark construction paper and sat them on the picnic table to see what would happen. They quickly realized that their paper was getting wet! K yelled "Oh, no!" and G grabbed his paper and headed back to the dry hallway. C simply watched and every now and again would touch one of the drops on her paper and make a long water line. The boys thought this was pretty neat and followed C's lead. Our science project suddenly turned into an art project. We brought the paper back to the room. when lunch was over I made a comment on how their pictures had changed. G looked at his paper and started to cry because his marks had disappeared. :( I promised that the next time it was raining we would go paint again."
