Being a woman [especially a woman of color] in the military can feel like walking a tightrope.

If you’re assertive, you’re “too much.”

If you’re quiet, you’re “too soft.”
If you’re pretty, you’re “doing the most.”

If you’re strong, they say you’re “trying to be a man.”

So we learn to overperform just to be respected. But that same survival mode follows us home. Suddenly, we’re the go-to person for family, the fixer in our relationships, and the one holding it all together while our bodies are breaking down.

Fatigue. Headaches. Sleepless nights. Tension. Brain fog.
That’s not strength. That’s burnout in uniform.

My experience as a speaker at the Pink Diamond Encounter in Nashville, Tennessee, reminded me of a key lesson for every business owner and aspiring leader: The power of "They."

We self-sabotage by giving the opinions of a few people who don't even understand our vision or market more weight than the potential to serve our true audience of hundreds, thousands, or even millions.
