So grateful for the leadership team at American Greetings in Greeneville, TN for inviting me in to discuss Situational Leadership. A mentor taught me early: never assume a customer, contract, program, or person is the same—dig for the uniqueness so you can lead well through ambiguity. We focused on the differences in people from the following points of view: 1.Competence 2.GAS Factor 3.GSD Factor (skill vs. will) & 4.Coachability to help put the right teammate on the bus, in the right seat—maximizing value for the customer, people, and bottom line. Takeaways: personalized stories, practical tools, toxic people pulls everyone down, everyone is different, energy is a choice, and not all are coachable—but all are replaceable. Thank you, AG!

Years ago, my sons said, “Dad, stop yelling at us at our ballgames.” That feedback hit hard – but it also changed everything. I realized my passion for their success was coming across as pressure. That moment reshaped how I lead, love, and listen.

Growth begins with humility and a desire for excellence – not perfection, but progress. If you can’t be corrected without being offended, you’ll never truly grow.
