Transparency Post:

I was this 🤏🏾 close to canceling this workshop because we weren’t selling enough tickets. Last time we hosted the same workshop, we had over 45 people in attendance, so I had to be honest with myself: What’s the point of having this workshop? Was it to make money, or was it to equip leaders with the skills to succeed when working with young people?

The answer is both! 😂 💯 But honestly, it’s the latter that matters most. This time, I made the decision to host the workshop, found the location, and marketed it—all within 3 weeks. Oh, and did I mention it was during fall break and Tennessee State University’s homecoming week? 😅🤦🏽‍♀️😫

But you know what? I’m so glad I went through with it. I’m sharing this to show the “not so pretty” but very real side of entrepreneurship. If I’m going to post about workshops with 200 attendees, I’ll post about the ones with 8 attendees too. I refuse to be embarrassed because I’m STILL making an impact. That can’t always be measured by an Instagram reel.

At the end of the day, my commitment is to the work. 💯 It’s to the students who are impacted by the educators I train. Whether there are 2 people or 200 in the room, I’ll always give 110%. 💪🏾

I learned some lessons, made a plan to improve, and now, it’s on to the next one!

This past week, I had the incredible opportunity to lead a workshop at the Metro Nashville Public Schoolse, focusing on positive youth development in the classroom. As a proud product of one of MNPS’ Magnet Schools, shoutout to Meigs😂, it was deeply fulfilling to return and contribute to the very community that shaped me. 🌟

Teaching these passionate educators how to implement youth development skills into their classrooms to create more equitable learning environments was a true highlight. Finding my niche in this work has been a journey😩, and this week felt like a full-circle moment. 💫
