✨ Kindergarten music was full of rhythm and discovery! 🎶🍂 Mrs. Petrick’s students explored beat and movement while practicing a fall-themed song, then made music with Boomwhacker percussion tubes!
Students compared the tubes’ sizes and sounds, discovered how size relates to pitch, and put their observations into practice by playing along to the rhythm. Thank you, Mrs. Petrick, for bringing music to life through hands-on exploration! ✨

✨What would you do if you were lost in the wilderness? 🌲 Our Outdoor Survival elective gives students a chance to think through that question… and put practical skills to work!
Students have explored survival priorities and practiced the STOP method: Stop, Think, Observe, Plan. Working together, students tackled their first shelter-building challenge using limited materials and are now learning essential knots for constructing shelters and securing gear.
Each challenge encourages students to pause, assess a situation, communicate ideas, and make thoughtful decisions. Hands-on learning that builds resourcefulness and confidence- with plenty of teamwork along the way! ✨

✨🕸️🌿 What happens when one organism disappears from an ecosystem? Our eighth graders explored that question by becoming a food web!
Taking on roles from plants to predators, students used yarn to connect who eats whom. Removing one organism revealed how a single change can ripple through the web, affecting species far beyond its immediate connections.
The activity also helped students explore a key distinction: nutrients cycle through ecosystems, while energy flows through and eventually leaves as heat. A hands-on look at how even the smallest organisms play a role in the world around us! ✨

✨Science came to life on the Nashua River! 🛶🌿 Our fifth graders joined the Nashua River Watershed Association and Nashoba Paddler for a River Classroom adventure, exploring the ecosystem from the water and the shore.
Paddling in tandem, students observed wildlife, including a great blue heron, and learned about the river’s ecology and local history. Back on land, students collected and examined aquatic organisms, with discoveries ranging from crayfish and catfish to a GIANT water bug!
The discoveries became evidence as students used the types and variety of aquatic macroinvertebrates they found to assess the river’s water quality. An exciting opportunity to connect classroom science with the world around them!
Thank you to our parent chaperones for being enthusiastic paddling partners and supporting a memorable day of learning! ✨

✨💡Big coding ideas, no screens required! In Engineering and Technology, our elementary students are teaming up to guide Rosie, a robotic dog, home through the unplugged adventures of Rosie’s Runtime and Rosie’s Path.
Students break challenges into smaller steps and create programs using concepts like loops, functions, and conditionals. Each round of testing and debugging is a chance to talk through ideas, learn from mistakes, and discover a better solution together!
These hands-on experiences lay the groundwork for the robotics and computer programming projects our NorthStars will tackle throughout the year. ✨

✨Small builders, big ideas! 🐾🌎 Our first graders created animal habitats, then proudly presented their projects and put them on display for others to enjoy.
Each habitat brought students’ understanding to life as they made thoughtful choices about what animals need to thrive. Sharing their work gave students a chance to explain those choices, practice speaking to an audience, and celebrate what they had accomplished.
It’s a glimpse of what makes hands-on learning at World Academy so special: students have opportunities to create something meaningful… and the pride and confidence that come from sharing it!✨

🗺️✨ A treasure map put our seventh graders’ understanding of motion to the test! Students used reference points and directions to navigate a treasure hunt, applying science concepts with every move.
Along the way, our NorthStars explored how distance differs from displacement and why velocity involves more than speed alone. Calculating speed and connecting it to velocity and acceleration brought classroom learning to life through a hands-on adventure! ✨
