As we gear up for a new school year to kick off on Tuesday, September 7th, we are welcoming 5 new faculty members to 2nd Nature Academy! Our educators have a lot in common, but also possess many individual traits and experiences that set them apart. Of our 14 grades K-12 faculty members:

- 7 hold Master degrees/post-graduate diplomas (that's half!),
- 2 were double majors, while
- 2 also hold minor degrees,
- 1 graduated summa cm laude,
- 1 graduated magna cm laude, and
- 1 published author has taught over 5,000 music lessons!

Collectively, the 2nd Nature Academy teaching body has also lived, studied, volunteered, or researched in 13 different countries or territories. They bring the wealth of their knowledge, expertise, and experiences with them to our school community to further enrich their students' educational journeys and broaden their horizons. We couldn't be more excited for what this year holds in store!

We are seeking a part-time, multi-age science teacher for the 2021-2022 school year who sees themself as an educational mentor, dedicated to student personal growth, and wish to serve as an engaged facilitator of student-driven inquiry. 2nd Nature Academy strives to innovate the learning journey by:

Developing the classroom as a collaborative, problem-solving community

Collaborating with colleagues to develop lessons and challenges that are transdisciplinary

Setting and maintaining criteria for quality work

Designing laboratory experiences and challenges that are connected to the subject and have real-world application

Using engaging performance-based assessment tools

Planning and structuring student exhibitions of learning

Guiding student reflection and debriefing processes

Increasing student comprehension, motivation, and investment in their own learning

Improving student mindset, habits, and skills that will prepare them for success in future learning, in career, and in life itself

Engaging students to become more invested in their own learning

Willingness to promote understanding and communication in a diverse learning environment

Willingness to accept feedback and desire to learn and grow

Candidates with experience in multiple age groups and grade levels preferred.
