The bill to be presented to the General Assembly in RI (TOMORROW) rectifies a vital need pertaining to Special Education in our state.
Too many school systems are ignoring the rights granted to our vulnerable population of children with individual learning needs, through IDEA.
Currently there is no accountability nor supervision to prevent this travesty from occurring.
An independent Ombudsman who will oversee the appropriate implementation of needs and services will offer tremendous assistance to both children and their families.

72 signatures are still needed! I support an Ombudsman Office of Special Education - a "Watchdog" in Rhode Island!

Some thoughts on mask wearing in schools
Attending school is a group activity and not an individual endeavor--making it essential that decisions be made for the good of all, and not the benefit of one
Wearing a mask is an inconvenience, at worst. Failure to do so is a serious health threat, raising the risk of contracting a potentially deadly disease.
A parent's right to make decisions for his/her child is true only if the choice relates solely to personal offspring.
He has no right to make decisions which effect the health and well being of others.
The entire issue of mandated mask wearing has been blown out of proportion. It does not warrant the time and attention, nor emotional upheaval it is provoking.

Pope Francis advocated mask wearing, calling it an act of love.
