Today our Foundations School students had the wonderful opportunity to learn how to make suncatchers with Mrs. Lynn Self!

Many of you know Lynn for the beautiful creations she shares at our local farmers market and other venues. Today, she brought that creativity into our classroom, patiently guiding our students and showing them how it’s done.

Her kindness, patience, and servant’s heart made this experience special. Thank you, Lynn, for sharing your time and talent with our students. We are grateful for community members like you who help our kids discover new skills and the joy of creating!

Last week, our Foundations students welcomed Dave Winfield of Winfield Trucking for a Skills Day demonstration! Dave shared the ins and outs of hauling logs to mills around our area, giving students a firsthand look at his trade and the valuable knowledge he’s gained through years of experience.

The visit was especially meaningful for two of our students, Kieran and Callum, Dave’s sons! They were so proud to see their dad sharing his business and experience with their classmates.

Thank you, Dave, for taking the time to share your trade with our students. We’re grateful for community members like you who help bring learning to life!

Lunch, Lessons, and a Cafe
Older students will be able to walk over and buy a daily meal at a lower rate using a family commissary card. The cafe also becomes an extension of the classroom, with students already signed up to learn barista work, prep cooking, and baking.

A Real Kitchen for Our Nutrition Program
Our nutrition program has been prepping meals for 50 out of a space the size of a supply closet. The new commercial kitchen gives it room to cook, plate, and serve our students properly. The whole school benefits the day it opens.

Real Businesses, Built by Students
Our entrepreneur class helped design this space, then built their own businesses right beside it. Students are learning how to start an LLC and get licensed with the Secretary of State. Real skills, learned by doing.

This morning was one of those moments that humbles me every single year… and usually makes my eyes leak a little.

We gathered around the flagpole, students, staff, parents, and members of our community, and took a few minutes to collectively have a conversation with the Creator of the universe.

Just think about that for a minute.

We stood together and thanked God for the freedom to simply exist in this place. To teach. To learn. To worship. To pray.

We asked Him to guide us. To protect our students and staff. To bless the work happening inside these walls and give our students success in the things He has called them to do.

We praised Him for everything He has already done.

For every little blessing.

Every changed heart.

Every answered prayer.

Every person who has stepped forward to help.

Every donated pencil and Post it note.

Because when you stop and look around Foundations School, there are reminders EVERYWHERE that God has provided and continues to provide.

But, I think one of the most powerful parts of this morning was listening to our students pray right alongside their teachers, parents, and community members. Watching young people be brave enough to stand in front of others and pray out loud…seriously, that’ll get ya.

And to the people from our community who gave up a piece of their morning to stand beside our kids, thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

You are showing our students what it looks like to live out your faith. You are the examples in this community. Your presence mattered more than you probably realize.

To our amazing students who were brave enough to stand up and pray publicly, I am so proud of you.

To our staff who continually lead by example, thank you.

And above all, thank You, God.

Thank You for Foundations School. Thank You for these kids. Thank You for the people You continue to place in our path. Thank You for every door You have opened, every need You have met, and every good and beautiful thing You continue to do here.

At the end of the day, maybe the most important thing any of us can do really is that simple…

Have a little talk with Jesus. ❤️🙏

What a beautiful way to start our day.
