7 out of 100 high school baseball players go on to play in college. Fewer than 2 make Division I.

And since the 2025 rule change, D1 rosters are capped at 34 — down from around 41. The walk-on spots families used to count on are mostly gone.

Here’s what we’ve learned watching this up close: the kids who get recruited usually aren’t the most talented ones in the building. They’re the families who treated recruiting like a second sport — organized, consistent, and early.

We’re excited to welcome Drew Klaserner to the MacStrength family in Naples, FL!

Drew brings extensive experience as both a Division I coach and former collegiate player, with a passion for developing athletes through intentional training, objective data, and individualized instruction.

Most recently a Division I Assistant Coach at Northern Kentucky University, Drew has served as the program’s hitting and catching coach while also contributing to infield development, offensive strategy, opponent scouting, and player development. During his time at NKU, he has helped lead offenses that have ranked nationally in runs, runs per game, doubles, walks, and on-base percentage.

Before coaching, Drew played 216 collegiate games, recording 214 hits, 14 home runs, 148 RBI, and a .317 career batting average. He was part of four conference championship teams, earned multiple All-Tournament honors, and was named Tournament MVP of his Conference in 2024.

His approach to development is rooted in combining strength, movement, hitting performance, and data-driven training to help athletes understand not only what they need to improve, but why.

Drew is also Driveline’s Foundations of Hitting Certified, Blast Motion Certified, and Motor Preferences Level 1 Certified, continuing to invest in his education and ability to serve athletes at a high level.

We include unlimited strength training in every package. Most places sell it separately. It isn’t an add-on - it’s the foundation complete player development is built on.

Strength work sets how hard an athlete is physically capable of throwing or hitting. Skill work is what gets them to that number. Do only the second one and you eventually run out of room - you’ve closed the gap, and the ceiling hasn’t moved.

Pitching or hitting, the skill work doesn’t do its full job without it.
