Today we celebrate the woman who changed the way we see children, learning, and the world around us. ❤️

And because we’re Montessori…of course we had to celebrate by posing with the Sun (as a walk would take too long)! ☀️🌎😉

156 years young and still inspiring classrooms, teachers, and children around the world. Here’s to the woman who reminded us to follow the child—and occasionally follow the Earth’s orbit, too! 😂🌿

🍊✨ **So much learning in a glass of fresh orange juice!**

In our Primary Montessori classroom, making orange juice is more than just a tasty treat—it’s a practical life experience filled with purposeful learning!

Our students practice:
🍊 **Fine motor skills** – squeezing and pressing the oranges
💪 **Hand strength & coordination** – using both hands to operate the juicer
👀 **Hand-eye coordination** – positioning the orange and controlling the movement
🧠 **Concentration & focus** – following the process from beginning to end
🔢 **Math skills** – counting oranges, measuring, and comparing amounts
🗣️ **Language development** – learning new vocabulary and communicating about the process
🧼 **Grace & Courtesy** – taking turns, sharing materials, and working respectfully alongside friends
🧹 **Independence** – preparing their own food and cleaning up when they are finished
🌱 **Connection to nature** – experiencing where our food comes from and appreciating the work involved in preparing it

This is the beauty of Montessori: **ordinary, everyday activities become meaningful opportunities for children to build independence, confidence, coordination, and a love of learning.** 🍊❤️

🌎✨ The Great Lesson

Today, our K–8 students came together for one of Montessori’s most inspiring traditions—the Great Lesson.

The Great Lesson invites children to look beyond themselves—to wonder, to ask questions, to discover connections, and to recognize that we each have a purpose and a responsibility to care for the world around us. 🌱🌎✨

Many of our WOWMS students have had the joy of having Mrs. Cecilia as their Infant teacher. Even if your child was not in her classroom, you have likely seen her around campus—walking our babies, caring for them so lovingly, or spending time with them outside. We want our WOWMS family to know that Mrs. Cecilia has been diagnosed with breast cancer. There is something especially bittersweet about the timing. Her daughter is expecting her first baby—a little girl who is due at the end of this month. Mrs. Cecilia is about to become a grandmother for the very first time, while also preparing to undergo surgery and begin her recovery.

August 28th will be Mrs. Cecilia’s last day with us for now, as she takes the time she needs to focus on her health and recovery. We are incredibly thankful that our Infant and Toddler team will be working closely together during this time to ensure our little ones continue to feel safe, loved, and cared for. We have a wonderful team who knows and loves these children, and they will be well supported while Mrs. Cecilia is away. This is a lot for anyone to face, and we want her to know that she does not have to face it alone.

As a school family, we are surrounding Mrs. Cecilia and her family with love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. We are also looking into ways that we can provide financial support to her while she is recovering. Attached is her GoFundMe fundraiser.

Please keep Mrs. Cecilia, her daughter, her new granddaughter, and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers. We love you, Mrs. Cecilia. You are so deeply loved by our WOW family, and we are behind you every step of the way.
