Patriot Week continues at Ave Maria School of Law.

Today, members of our community came together for a Veterans Panel featuring Ave Law professors, current students, and an alumnus who have served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The conversation went beyond why they chose military service, offering students a candid look at the responsibilities, sacrifices, friendships, challenges, and lasting experiences that come with wearing the uniform.

It was especially meaningful to welcome U.S. Navy LTJG Brian Anderson (’23) back to campus and see him reconnect with professors he had not seen in several years. His return was a wonderful reminder that the relationships formed at Ave Law continue long after graduation—and that service can take many forms after law school.

We are grateful to all of our panelists for sharing their experiences and perspectives, and to all those in the Ave Law community who have answered the call to serve.

Today, the Church joyfully celebrates the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary—the birthday of Mary, the Mother of Jesus.

At Ave Maria School of Law, we honor Our Blessed Mother in a special way, asking her to guide our community in faith, wisdom and loving service to others.

Happy birthday, Blessed Mother. May your faithful “yes” continue to inspire us to hear God’s call and answer with courage.

Mary, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us. 💙

Students from Ave Maria School of Law’s Veterans and Servicemembers Law Clinic (VLSC) began Patriot Week by helping the Naples community plant 2,977 American flags at Artis—Naples—one for every life lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

The response from the community was extraordinary, with volunteers arriving early to participate in this powerful act of remembrance. After the final flags were placed, participants gathered in prayer and honored the victims, first responders, service members and families who continue to carry the impact of that day.

“There is always grief and pain that follow us in remembering the lost lives, but a theme that seems to emerge every year during Patriot Week is the strong sense of community that we have at Ave Maria School of Law,” reflected student Christopher Schulze. “We are fortunate to learn resilience from each other’s stories and experiences during this week.”

We are proud of our VLSC students for helping make this meaningful community tribute possible as Naples marks the 25th anniversary of September 11.

May we always remember. 🇺🇸

The Business Law Institute had a busy Labor Day weekend—building connections and bringing real-world business law experience into the classroom.

BLI Fellows Shannon Lenahan, Cecily Cronin and Matthew Caccese joined Professor Bruce Connolly at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, for a reception hosted by the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar. The event gave the Fellows an opportunity to meet accomplished attorneys and other professionals while gaining valuable insight into the practice of business law throughout Florida.

The conversation continued on campus when attorney Zane Katz spoke with students about his work as Chair of the Direct v. Derivative Study Group of the Business Law Section.

These experiences—and the professional relationships formed through them—are an important part of preparing BLI Fellows for successful careers in business law.

Ave Maria Law students took their business law education beyond the classroom.
Business Law Institute Smith Fellow Sierra Vicente (’27) and Annabelle Bruno (’27), attended the American Bar Association Business Law Fall Meeting 2026, where alongside attorneys and industry leaders they learned about some of the rapidly evolving issues shaping business law.

Sessions explored the legal and governance challenges surrounding agentic AI and autonomous systems, the growing legal complexities of data center development, and strategies in-house counsel can use to manage the costs of major litigation.
Bruno also serves as vice president of operations for the Moot Court Board and president of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society.

Experiences like this give Ave Maria Law students a firsthand look at emerging legal challenges while connecting their legal education with the realities of modern business practice.

We look forward to sharing more from their experience at the meeting.

From the classroom to the courtroom.

On Aug. 31, students from the Ave Maria School of Law Veterans and Servicemembers Law Clinic advocated in civil court on behalf of a blind, disabled Army veteran in a case involving alleged contractor misconduct following Hurricane Ian.

Third-year student and Certified Legal Intern Belinda Mozo presented arguments before Judge Michael T. McHugh of Florida’s 20th Judicial Circuit. Fellow 3L John Bozue assisted with preparation for the proceeding.

Through the VSLC, Ave Maria Law students gain substantive legal experience while serving those who have served our nation—a powerful example of legal education grounded in skill, service and respect for human dignity.

“Crushing it” when it comes to graduate employment.

That is how Above the Law describes the schools making remarkable gains in employment outcomes—and Ave Maria School of Law is among the nation’s top five most improved.

Citing research from The National Jurist, Above the Law highlights Ave Maria Law’s 63.4% growth in its modified employment score, based on outcomes for the Classes of 2023 through 2025 compared with the Classes of 2012 through 2014.

The national recognition reflects years of purposeful work: earlier career intervention, hands-on legal education, professional formation, alumni engagement and individualized support that prepares our graduates to enter the profession with confidence.

Our Student Organizations and Involvement Fair brought the Ave Maria Law community together today at the Cancro Family Wellness Center.

Students had the opportunity to meet representatives from our three co-curricular programs—Law Review, Moot Court and the Business Law Institute—as well as all 17 student organizations.

With a barbecue, an ice cream truck and plenty of fun, it was a wonderful way for students to explore opportunities, make connections and become more involved in campus life.
