Hundreds of people tie on a white belt.
Most never see blue.
Fewer see purple.

The black belt isn’t a reward for showing up — it’s what’s left after years of getting submitted by people better than you and coming back the next morning anyway.

Under Renzo Gracie and Daniel Gracie , the belt carries weight because of who tied it.
The lineage runs back through the Gracie family — the people who built this art and proved it against everyone who doubted it.

A leader doesn’t chase people. He builds something worth walking toward.

I’ve never asked anyone to follow me. I show up. I put in the work when no one’s watching. I hold the door for the person who’s struggling and expect nothing back. That’s the job.

Support isn’t soft. It’s showing a beginner the same patience someone once showed you. It’s correcting a mistake without breaking a spirit. It’s remembering that every black belt was once a white belt who almost quit.

Do that long enough and something happens. People notice. They stay. They bring others. Not because you sold them anything — because you were the real thing when it mattered.

On the mats, we don’t lead by title. We lead by example. Come see what that looks like.

A strong academy is built on one thing: respect for the person on the mat next to you.

It doesn’t matter where you came from, what you do, or how you started. When you walk into our room, you’re family. Beginner or black belt, we all sharpen each other.

Positivity here isn’t softness. It’s earned. We push hard, we correct each other, and we leave better than we came in. That’s what an open door and high standards look like together.

No egos. No outsiders. Just work, and the people beside you doing it too.

My name is Daniel Gracie

A room doesn’t build itself.

I build it

Confidence isn’t handed to a student. It’s earned rep by rep.
My job is to set the conditions where that’s possible.

I set the standard by walking it first.
I don’t ask for anything on the mat I haven’t done ten thousand times myself.
Students watch what you tolerate, not what you say.

Energy is contagious.
Bring intensity and calm, the room mirrors it. Bring chaos, they feel that too.

I put people in hard positions and let them survive. Not drown—survive. That’s where belief comes from. You don’t talk someone into confidence. You let them prove it to themselves.

Correct in private. Acknowledge effort in public. Never let ego run the room. Everyone is responsible for the person next to them.

Build the room right, and the room builds the student.

Over a hundred years ago, a Japanese master named Mitsuyo Maeda handed Carlos Gracie something raw.
