Collier County Public Schools has been communicating with the National Weather Service in Miami and Collier County Emergency Management regarding Hurricane Milton. Due to the many variables in timing and intensity of the storm, all CCPS school and district sites will close from Monday (October 7) through Thursday (October 10) to give our families time to prepare for the probable impacts of Hurricane Milton.

Hurricane Milton is forecast to bring at least tropical storm and possibly hurricane-force conditions to our area, including heavy rain, potential flooding and storm surge risks, as well as winds that would exceed safe levels for bus transportation (sustained winds of 35mph or more).

We anticipate returning to regular operations on Friday (October 11). Weather can be unpredictable, causing adjustments to forecasts and impacting operational decisions. Therefore, we will provide updates using all official CCPS communications channels in the event we modify our current plan,

To ensure we meet the Florida Department of Education’s instructional requirements, CCPS will evaluate our Academic Calendar in terms of Hurricane Make-Up Days. Any changes to the Academic Calendar will be announced at a later date.
