The Benefits Of Early Piano Music Training Continue To Pay Off.

So, there are plenty of reasons that any parent should look into starting their child on music as early as possible.

The top five, in our opinion, are:

1. Music stays with them.

Even if the piano-playing fingers get a little rusty, the muscle memory comes back quickly. Music skills are very slow to fade and quickly return no matter how old your child gets!

2. Well-timed learning.

Learning music occurs in many brain areas as speech - our brains treat it like language. So, like any language, children learn music far more quickly in the first years than at any time in their lives. (Plus, they’re far too young to pout over how they’d instead ditch piano class to hang with their friends!)

3. It (probably) helps develop their native intelligence.

We can’t officially call this one 100% confirmed. However, there is still a sizeable scientific body of work inking early-age musical training with improvements in a range of cognitive functions, including mathematics, abstract reasoning, and spatial perception.

4. Musicality is always in fashion.

As rapidly as the world whirls about us these days, it’s hard to know which skills will benefit your child in the long run. So many skills are falling into disuse these days, but you know what? Music isn’t one of them, and it will never be. A background in music is something your child will be able to make use of, over and over, for decades to come.

5. Music brings better emotional control.

As the study has shown, music virtually improves control over emotions and social skills. EQ is at least important as IQ, and piano music (probably) helps boost both!

Sour lemons!? It’s funny because they don’t just take one bite… they keep trying! :)

Fine motor skills involve the small muscles of the body. These small muscles need to be developed because they are required for more advanced tasks such as writing, grasping small objects, and fastening clothing. When we refer to fine motor skills in the context of handwriting, we are typically referring to the small muscles in the hands and fingers used for writing.

Young children benefit from daily practice to help develop fine motor skills in their fingers and hands. Children should have strength and dexterity in their hands and fingers Before they care to be expected to hold a pencil, or even master writing letters, children should develop the strength and dexterity in their hands and fingers to successfully accomplish these tasks without frustration or anxiety.

We help students strengthen those muscles in the classroom by providing fun, hands-on, and developmentally appropriate activities on a daily basis. These activities also help children develop an appropriate pencil grasp when they are ready.
