One standout paper from that year, “Developing Nuclear Maintenance Decisions Through Systematic Use of Machine Vibration Data” by George D’Entremont, focused on a challenge that is still highly relevant today: how vibration analysts can move from data overload to clear, defensible maintenance recommendations.

More than a decade later, the message still resonates: effective vibration analysis is not just about collecting data. It is about using experience, structure, and sound judgment to protect equipment reliability and critical system functions.

As we look ahead, VIATC 2026 is coming up quickly. It is a great reminder of the depth of knowledge shared through Vibration Institute events year after year.

And for Vibration Institute members, resources like this are not just history. Members have access to our full digital library, including past proceedings, technical papers, and training resources that continue to support analysts, engineers, and reliability professionals today.

Now is a great time to revisit the archives, learn from the past, and get ready for VIATC 2026.
