Our Vision is that Energy Policies are anchored in Fundamental Engineering Principles.

The Institute of Global Energy Education’s (Institute’s) purpose is to fill existing knowledge gaps in how energy works and its impacts on people and the planet. We support making policies consistent with physics to meet the challenges of Climate Change while meeting the need for more energy. We plan to achieve this through energy education, translating complex technical issues into comprehensibl

Check this out. The Institute is looking forward to helping Canada with its Canada SMR Action Plan launch.

"Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to inform you that the Government of Canada and its partners will be announcing the official launch of Canada’s SMR Action Plan on Friday, December 18th, 2020, from 12:00-12:45 p.m. (EST).

The event will be livestreamed on the NRCan YouTube page (https://www.youtube.com/user/NaturalResourcesCa), and on Friday the SMR Action Plan website will go live (https://smractionplan.ca/).

As this will be an open forum and all are welcome to attend, we encourage you to share both of these links throughout your networks to help extend the reach of the SMR Action Plan.

Thank you for all of your support. We are looking forward to releasing the SMR Action Plan to showcase Canada’s leadership on this emerging clean energy technology.

Thank you,

Looks like a great tool necessary for the paradigm shift away from advocating specific types of Power Generation.
We need to make an unbiased shift to a paradigm of advocating for technically feasible combinations of resources that optimize carbon reduction produced in the electric sector.
This shift recognizes that different types of generation have different performance characteristics that, when effectively integrated, optimize carbon total reduction.
This then supports maximizing sustainability by optimizing CO2 reduction in the Transportation & Industrial sectors.
A quick background behind “we need it all”!

Another well-known consideration when it comes to renewable energy projects: one aspect of renewable energy is that the source energy (i.e., wind and solar radiation) cannot be transported. Hence, renewable power generation facilities need to be built where the energy sources are located, thereby requiring whatever transmission lines needed to move the electricity to the load centers.

This seems to be a strong driver to locate as many solar panels as possible on warehouse roofs, especially those in industrial parks, assuming it's economical to ensure the buildings can bear the additional weight and the power can be fed into the grid. If this avoids the cost of new transmission lines, holistically one would think the economics make sense.

Your thoughts?
