We were looking out over the ocean, remembering Joey and Maya set up the camera to take a picture, when we saw the picture we immediately noticed the perfect J in the clouds. He was with us today!

Even though you left this world 10 years ago today, you are with us everyday. We all love you. 💜

Just a reminder for Benicia High School seniors who attended Mary Farmar, the deadline for scholarship applications is April 10th. You can access the application for the Joey Douglas Memorial scholarship through the BHS site.

Attention Seniors at Benicia high school that attended Mary Farmar. The Joey Douglas Memorial scholarship is open. It should only take a few minutes to apply. See the counseling office for the link to the Google doc. It has been updated. We will be offering two scholarships in the amount of $250 each. We will also offer one or two scholarships at Vintage high school.

Congratulations class of 2025! This year we awarded scholarships for six seniors at Benicia high school. Two seniors at Vintage high school also received scholarships. All in the amount of $250 each. Some amazing and talented students applied this year. As always, it’s so hard to choose, but we are grateful to all the applicants for taking the time to apply. We wish you the best in the next phase of your journey!

Eight years ago we planted these two oak trees by Joey’s bench at Alston Park. Today they are going strong. Nine years ago you left us, Joey, but you truly will always be with us. We all love you.💚💜💚

The deadline to turn in the short application for the Joey Douglas Memorial Scholarship at Benicia High school and Vintage High School is April 11th. The link below should take you to the Google form to submit to the BHS counseling office. For Vintage High school please stop by the counseling office for an application. Please check to make sure that they have received your form or print a hard copy and turn it in.

Attention Vintage and Benicia High School seniors: The Joey Douglas Memorial Scholarship is open to seniors at BHS that were former students at Mary Farmer Elementary and seniors at VHS that were in band, swimming, water polo or are planning on going into the field of mental health.

We will be awarding scholarships in the amount of $200-$250 to multiple students. You can get the application from the counseling office at your school. Just fill out a couple of questions and a paragraph about yourself. More details to follow.

This year we were able to award four scholarships. Two graduating seniors at Benicia high school and two graduating seniors at Vintage high school received $250 each. Congratulations class of 2024!

This year we will award scholarships in the amount of $250-$500 to one or two students from Benicia High School and Vintage High School.

There is not a GPA minimum, but BHS seniors must have been a student at Mary Farmar Elementary and VHS seniors must have been in either band, swimming or water polo.

There will not be an application this year, but please fill out: 1) your full name, 2) school (BHS or VHS), 3) how you qualify, 4) the college or university you are planning on attending and 5) anything else you might want us to know.

Turn into your school scholarship coordinator on or before April 20, 2024.

Recipients will be chosen in late April, and announced at the senior scholarship award ceremony at each school.

Please spread the word if you know any qualifying seniors. This summer we are hoping to hold another event/fundraiser to replenish funds to keep the Joey Douglas Memorial Scholarship funded for future graduates. We are looking for venues and donations.
