113 years ago, our Founders marched in the 1913 Woman Suffrage Procession, demanding a right that was not yet theirs. Black women would not see full, unimpeded access to the ballot until decades later, and that fight for access has never fully ended.

That history is exactly why National Voter Registration Day, September 15, matters so much to who we are as a Sorority. Every registration honors that struggle and carries it forward. It protects our voice in the decisions that shape our everyday lives: access to healthcare, the strength of our economy, the quality of our schools, and the freedoms we exercise every day.

Join the Rockland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. for Fall Fusion: Afro Brunch on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 1:30-5:30 p.m. at The View on the Hudson in Piermont.

Enjoy a fashion show by Customly Yours, music by DJ Catch 22, complimentary mimosas, raffles, prizes and an afternoon filled with R&B, Afrobeats, hip-hop, kompa and soca.

Most importantly, proceeds will support community programs and college scholarships.

The sorority year is officially underway!

The Rockland County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is back together for our first chapter meeting of the year, and the room is filled with sisterhood, connection and purpose.

There’s something special about coming back together — catching up, reconnecting and getting ready for the work ahead. We’re stepping into this new sorority year with renewed energy and a shared commitment to service, scholarship, sisterhood and social action.

Twenty-five years ago, September 11, 2001 changed our nation forever. Today we pause to honor the lives lost at the Pentagon, the World Trade Center, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and to remember the bravery of the first responders and service members, including our own sorors, who answered the call.

We will never forget the actions of that day and the impact on our nation. We carry forward the memories of the lives lost, honoring their legacy through how we choose to live and serve.

Last Saturday, members of the Rockland County Alumnae Chapter were out in the community sharing voter information and helping make sure our neighbors have the resources they need to be informed, prepared and ready to make their voices heard.

Because civic engagement doesn’t start at the ballot box. It starts with showing up, sharing information and making participation more accessible.
