This week's Loveblog, I fought with God the other week and almost died.
I recently found myself in a profound battle with God, a struggle that nearly cost me my life. But let me rewind a bit and start at the beginning.
It all began with a dream a few nights prior, where God whispered a simple directive: go North. Naturally, my mind immediately leaped to geographic interpretations. Should I relocate to a family compound nestled in the serene landscapes of New Hampshire, Germany, or France? These thoughts lingered but didn't materialize.
Fast forward to a fateful morning, 5:30 am, the sky still cloaked in darkness. I embarked on a cross-country journey, a familiar road trip I'd undertaken several times before. My preferred route, through Pennsylvania, promised vistas of majestic mountains bathed in the early morning light – a scene that never failed to inspire me. Yet, on this particular morning, my GPS seemed insistent on a different path, repeatedly nudging me towards the northern route through Canada, much to my frustration.
For an hour and a half, I resisted, steadfastly clinging to my chosen route. But eventually, on a quiet, wooded road, I relented. "Fine. You win, God. I'll go through Canada," I conceded, feeling a mixture of resignation and frustration.
Right before I reached my destination unexpected alert flashed across my screen – news of a devastating tornado and storm wreaking havoc in Ohio, precisely along the route I had initially intended to take. People lost their lives. In that moment, I couldn't help but marvel at the divine intervention that had guided me away from harm's way.
