Since Strong Wings was incorporated in 1991, our mission has been to provide outdoor adventure programming for Nantucket’s youth which promotes active lifestyles and physical fitness, builds strength, confidence, and character, fosters new friendships, and encourages respect and appreciation for nature. Strong Wings works with children of all ages, abilities, needs, and backgrounds. We offer a wide variety of activities and experiences including rock climbing, high and low ropes course exercises, kayaking, gardening, cooperative games, team building, and explorations of the island’s diverse outdoor environments. An integral part of the Nantucket community, Strong Wings plays a vital role in the development of Nantucket’s youth. We are deeply committed to creating programs and curricula that help young people discover and realize their full potential. Strong Wings encourages our Facebook friends to interact with each other in a respectful and meaningful way. SW reserves the right to screen and remove any content it deems inappropriate. What a Summer! 💚

A huge thank you to EVERYONE who made Summer 2026 unforgettable! Together we laughed, pedaled our way to new adventures, tended the garden with care, splashed through refreshing swims, made lifelong friends, savored ice cream treats, conquered rock walls, and most importantly… had the absolute best time.

A special shout-out to our incredible counselors! Your endless energy, kindness, and dedication to Strong Wings and the children of this island are beyond words.

Here’s to an amazing season… and to counting down the days until Summer 2027… only 294 to go (but who’s counting? 😉) ☀️💚

As we wrap up another incredible summer, our hearts are so full. Thank you to our amazing campers, dedicated staff, and supportive families for making every adventure, every challenge, and every memory so meaningful.

Whether it’s the Polpis Loop, East to West, the 60-Mile Challenge, or the legendary 100-Mile Challenge, every ride ends the same way: with cheers, high fives, and a celebration waiting at the finish! 🚲🎉

At Strong Wings, every mile represents perseverance, determination, and confidence. We couldn’t be prouder of our campers for pushing themselves, supporting one another, and accomplishing incredible goals! 💚

🌟 Week 9! 🌟

Another week packed with adventure, exploration, laughter, and memories! Our campers continue to challenge themselves, build friendships, and make the most of every summer moment.

Yesterday, our campers paddled through the calm waters of Pocomo and had the incredible opportunity to visit Pocomo Meadow Oyster Farm 🌊🦪

Nestled near the mouth of Polpis Harbor, the farm sits where the tides flow twice each day through a narrow channel, bringing fresh, nutrient-rich water from nearby salt marshes and tidal creeks. These ideal conditions help create oysters that are known for their bold salty brine, crisp minerality, and distinctive herbal notes.

Campers also learned about the fascinating journey of an oyster. Beginning no larger than a corn kernel, oysters spend their first two years growing in protective mesh bags before being released onto the seafloor as “free-range” oysters, where they mature into the delicious shellfish Nantucket is known for.

Experiences like these connect our campers to the island’s unique ecology, local aquaculture, and the people who help preserve and sustain it. Thank you, Pocomo Meadow Oyster Farm, for sharing your passion and giving our campers a memorable day on the water! 💚
