Twin sisters from Nanticoke, Brianne and Brittany Dougherty, opened the doors of Magic World Child Care Center in August of 2011. From that moment, it has been their mission to create an environment that enriches children with high quality education while also providing them with the comfort and care they need, just like at home.
Throughout the past 6 years they have provided services to many families from all over Luzerne County. “The connection made between families and teachers is one that defines the future of a child’s educational career”, Brianne states. Parent involvement is at the top of the key factors that Magic World focuses on each and every day.
Enrolling your children in quality education in their early childhood years is a must, both sisters agree. Although parents strive to do as much at they possibly can at home with their children, with all of the other responsibilities they have in their lives, it is difficult for education to be their one and only focus. “At our school, every day brings something new for children to explore and learn”, comments Brittany. With a curriculum guided by the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards and alternative lessons written by their qualified teachers, children are exposed to many different themes and topics every day in their classroom.
Language-rich environments with quality learning materials is exactly what Magic World provides for their students. Walking through the classrooms, you see children learning even during free play time. Teachers are focused on developing children’s skills in all areas no matter what a child’s specific interests may be. Daily, children are exposed to interest centers such as dramatic play, music, art, block building, math, science, library, fine motor, and writing. In each center, teachers have conversations with children, assessing their current knowledge on an area of interest and then building upon it in order to develop new skills.
The center provides care and education to children 6 weeks to 12 years old. Each child receives individualized attention from staff and is guided through their educational journey at their own pace. Children are encouraged to explore, research, experiment and ask questions. “No matter what level a child might currently be on, we provide the stepping stones for them to move up to the next”, asserts Brianne.
Magic World Child Care Center is a facility that is determined to meet the needs of all students and families that they serve. Every child deserves the opportunity to be a part of a quality learning environment designed to support them in every way possible.
Education doesn’t start in Kindergarten, it begins at birth.
