Last week we spent time working on Reverse De La Riva guard. The cool thing about Jiu Jitsu is that not every technique is meant for every body type, and that’s okay. We covered fancy looking sweeps, inversions but also techniques for students that would rather keep it simple and wrestle up.
There isn’t one perfect style, there’s a style that fits you. Whether you’re tall, short, fast, strong, young, or older, Jiu Jitsu can be adapted to your strengths. The goal isn’t to force yourself into someone else’s game; it’s to build one that works for you.
That’s the beauty of Jiu Jitsu. 🥋

Congrats to Delwyn for winning the Portland open super heavyweight division! He stuck to his game plan and displayed beautiful jiu jitsu in his first tournament! We’re so proud of him and can’t wait to see his game progress in the coming months and years to come!

Congrats to Duke and Dartanyan on making the podium yesterday! Coach John was able to make Duke’s grey/white promotion special by promoting him on the podium! Good job boys and we’ll see you back on the mat this week!

More than just a sport. More than just self-defense.
Jiu Jitsu gives kids something they’ll carry for the rest of their lives.
It teaches them to believe in themselves when things are hard. To stay calm under pressure. To solve problems instead of panic. To treat others with respect while developing the confidence to stand up for themselves.
Every class is about more than learning techniques, it’s about building character.
