Enrique Munoz is the Community School Coordinator at Union High School

Going on his 3rd year as a Community School Coordinator, Enrique Muñoz is passionate about making a difference both at school and in his community while finding meaningful ways to bring the two together!

Enrique loves giving back to the community. From distributing food boxes and school supplies to creating events, activities, and memorable clubs, he is always looking for ways to bring people together, create connections, and make a positive impact.
When he’s not supporting students and families.

Enrique enjoys spending time with his family, whether that means cheering on his girls at T-ball games, taking trips to the park, or simply enjoying being a dad to his three beautiful daughters.

This week, we celebrate and appreciate our Community School Coordinators for all they do to support, connect, and strengthen our school communities.

Once a week, I’ll continue introducing you to our amazing advisors and highlighting the incredible impact they make at Union School!

This week, I’m shining the spotlight on Jennifer Keene, one of our outstanding middle school advisors and a true innovator, science-forward thinker, and STEAM enthusiast! 💡

Jennifer’s passion for hands-on learning, innovation, and STEAM education is evident in everything she does. From writing incredible grants and bringing VR technology into the classroom to leading our middle school STEAM program, Jennifer is constantly finding new ways to inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving in her students.

She is a visionary educator who believes learning should be engaging, meaningful, and tailored to the unique needs of every student. Whether she’s adapting assignments, developing innovative learning experiences, or securing resources that help Union grow and stand out in our community, Jen consistently goes above and beyond.

If you’re passionate about hands-on learning, exploring new ideas, and making education exciting, Jennifer Keene is your teacher!

🎉 Let me take a minute to introduce you to one of our amazing advisors here at Union School!

Nicholas Rush is truly a mover and a shaker—the kind of person who sees something that needs to be done and makes it happen! He may need to say “no” every once in a while 😉, but he is always pushing our kids to go above and beyond and continues to make great things happen at Union.

Nicholas was a golden hire for us! As a leader in our school and an integral part of our STEAM program, he takes on 20+ interns who help make this incredible program possible. As a science teacher he finds hands-on experiences to some seriously cool projects—including dissecting a perch 🐟 —Nicholas creates opportunities for our students to learn, explore, and discover what they are capable of.

Jen’s 8th grade STEAM students have been reviewing thermal energy concepts and putting their science knowledge to work by designing and building solar ovens. Today they tested their skills by toasting s’mores! It was one of those rare days when it’s ok to taste the science! Nampa School District

Today in advisor Biff Halls classroom, students are learning how to use microscopes and exploring science from a whole new perspective. 🔬🧪

Looking through a microscope allows you to see things that you would never normally see with the naked eye—and our students are loving the chance to discover what’s happening in the world around them!

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Maria Esquivel 🌟

Maria has been serving Nampa School District Nutrition Services for nearly 20 years! A proud mom of three and grandma to 8 grandchildren, Maria loves watching Korean dramas and enjoys chile rellenos.

One of her favorite parts of the job is the connections she makes with students. From daily hugs and heartfelt notes to thank-yous from students at Union and Nampa Academy, Maria feels truly appreciated every day.

Her favorite items to serve? Crispitos and Spicy Chicken Sandwiches because the kids are always excited to see them on the menu!

Oh my goodness—today was BEYOND successful! 🦊💜

We are so incredibly grateful for the many local businesses who are opening their doors and creating internship opportunities for our students! These experiences are so much more than a job—they’re opportunities for our students to explore careers, build relationships, learn new skills, and see what’s possible for their future.

A HUGE shout-out to Mustard Seed for taking the time to speak with our students, as well as Flying M Coffee Shop, A Bit of Italy, and the new Kings Beagle Shop for welcoming us and being willing to invest in our students.

It truly takes a community to make a difference, and today was a perfect example of what happens when our community comes together for kids! ❤️
