I've had some questions on ukulele and guitar purchases. So (unfortunately, because I'm not a big fan of Amazon) Amazon has the best choices of Ukuleles. I have a concert size and it’s just right for me. So I would recommend something between and soprano and tenor size-wise. The link will show you may different colors and styles.

If you are willing to pay over $100 (more around $150 or so), then I HIGHLY recommend Luna Guitars. https://www.lunaguitars.com/ukuleles I’ve had several girl students buy a guitar from Luna, and they’ve all been more than pleased with their purchase!! And I’m sure the ukes are just as good. Very unique also. But a bit more pricey.

Let me know if you have any questions. I usually encourage parents to surprise their kids with a guitar, but still let them pick it out. This is something they’re going to have for a long time, and it may be worth letting them choose the color/style. I’ve had parents print out a page full of ukuleles and give that as the gift, and the kid was excited to see it. :) But whatever you want to do.
