Calamintha nepeta is a bee and butterfly magnet coming to our fall plant sale. Lesser Calamint blooms from summer to late Fall - minty fragrance and native to the Mediterranean region, southern Europe, and parts of North Africa and Central Asia. Needs very well drained soil or it might melt - water the first year - but once established it’s very drought tolerant. A perennial that needs a very well drained sunny location. Sam’s in Shreveport is featuring 2lb Zespri golden kiwifruit at $6.97. That’s $3.49 per lb. There’s 20-40,000 lbs per acre, maybe more, in a high intensity overhead teepee system. There’s $2 to $2.25 per lb. wholesale, you do the math. $25,000 per acre investment per acre in a high intensity load bearing trellis system. It’s not that easy. This years crop at SFA was wiped out by a very late spring freeze, lack of a sprinkler for frost protection system, and a first time ever beaver attack.
