McMichael Middle School is officially kicking off Swim Team & Water Polo Prep starting March 17! If your 7th or 8th grader is ready to hit the pool, here is everything you need to know to get them started.

📅 The Schedule

• When: Tuesdays & Thursdays (March 17 – May 14)

• Time: 6:30 AM – 7:30 AM (Rise and shine! ☀️)

• Logistics: Drop off at the Boys & Girls Club. A bus will bring students back to campus after practice.

• Home Meets: Mark your calendars for March 28 and April 25!

✅ Participation Requirements
To join the team, students must:
• Be in 7th or 8th grade.
• Have an updated physical on file and meet eligibility requirements.
• Be comfortable and safe in the water.
• Be able to swim 25 yards unassisted.

We are bursting with pride today! We just wrapped up an incredible Field Day Party to celebrate our students who showed amazing growth on their recent benchmarks. 📈✨

Hard work pays off, and these students proved that dedication and focus lead to big results. From the relay races to the giant smiles, it was the perfect way to reward their academic hustle.

We are officially open for business! Ms. Gallegos’s class has been working hard behind the scenes to launch their very own student-run business, and it is a massive success!

This is more than just a place to grab a snack; it is a fully functional workspace where our students are the CEOs, baristas, and accountants. By running this business, they are gaining hands-on experience in:

Entrepreneurship: Managing inventory and marketing their products.

Customer Service: Building social confidence and professional communication.

Practical Math: Budgeting, pricing, and handling real-world transactions.

Workplace Readiness: Learning the value of reliability and teamwork.

Don’t forget that tomorrow is the parent meeting for Jr. Dragonette tryouts!

🎈 What’s Happening?

We have a packed schedule featuring something for everyone:

Talent Show: See the amazing skills of our local community!

Guest Speakers: Featuring Rev. Terrance Hicks (Power of the Word Ministries) and Rev. Charles King (Bethel Temple COGIC).

Youth Activities: Special programming for ages 5–17.

Food & Fun: Delicious eats and family-friendly activities all afternoon.

This event is organized by the Community Improvement Program, NAACP, and the 21/7 Organization.

We are so proud of the McMichael Middle School Dragon Esports teams for their incredible performance at the Region 7 competition!

In our very first year competing, our Dragons went head-to-head with 31 teams and secured a Top 5 finish, coming in 5th overall! 🐉✨

A huge shout-out to Mr. Doss and Mr. Grubbs for sponsoring the team. Thank you for your leadership and for giving our students the chance to shine in the digital arena!

🚀 Big News for Next Year!

The success of this team has officially sparked a new era at McMichael. We are thrilled to announce that we are launching a Video Game Design class next school year! We’re turning that competitive passion into hands-on skills in coding and creation.

Region 7 ESC hosts ‘Super Smash Bros.’ eSports tournament Dozens of teams from around East Texas descended upon the Region 7 Education Service Center in Kilgore for a “Super Smash Bros.” eSports tournament. Thirty-one teams from 13 school districts faced off Tuesday and Wednesday for the ESC’s second eSports tournament of the year.

Mrs. Condon’s 8th-grade scientists were "zooming in" during their microscope lab! They are ready to dive deep into their unit on cells and start comparing plant vs. animal life up close.

Great job, 8th grade! We can't wait to see what you discover next. 🧬🧫
