Today’s full-scale evacuation and reunification exercise at Raguet Elementary is now complete and normal operations have resumed at the campus.

Exercises like this help ensure Nacogdoches ISD is prepared to safely reunify students with their families if required.

We’re grateful for the Nacogdoches-area first responders who assisted in the exercise.

Please be aware

Just a friendly reminder that Nacogdoches ISD will conduct an evacuation and reunification drill Friday for Raguet Elementary.

During the drill, you will see buses carrying students and staff to and from a reunification location in Nacogdoches while accompanied by emergency personnel.

This is all part of NISD’s ongoing commitment to student safety and preparedness. Additional details will be shared directly with parents at affected campuses and with additional social media posts.

Two of our amazing drivers were recognized for Love the Bus Month and their outstanding work for our community💛🚌

(L)💛Eugenio Garcia was recognized for his actions on Oct. 15, 2025. While transporting students home, Mr. Garcia, realizing an 18-wheeler was coming along the right side of the bus, stopped the student from stepping off into the path of the truck.
Mr. Garcia’s actions that day prevented a potentially tragic situation from taking place.

(R)💛Chris Grant was recognized by the board for receiving the Bus Driver of the Year award from the district’s workers compensation insurance provider.

Manuel, our district’s insurance representative came by to train our team. We had our “𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐞,” of learning and laughing together. Our team broke into 4 different teams and played Jeopardy. Each team were quizzed on bus facts and scenarios!

We are still celebrating Love the Bus Month! Wednesday, to show unison our team decided to wear Red and Pink. ❤️🩷❤️🚌

It’s not easy waking up at 3 a.m.

It’s not easy working a split shift.

But what is easy, is loving what we do.
What’s easy is our commitment to safety.
What’s easy is helping our student’s dreams take flight.
