The Lumberjack Battalion held our Annual Military Ball this Saturday and it was one for the books!

Cadets were recognized for their contributions and hard work throughout the year with awards and scholarships supported by the Military Excellence Fund.

Another MPFTX in the books. Long days, early mornings, and nonstop teamwork — all part of the grind to become better leaders and future Army officers. Proud of everything our cadre and cadets accomplished out in the field.

Our next Spotlight is one of our Nursing Students Cadet Katie Stensrud! Here’s a message from our cadet:

“My name is Katie Stensrud, and I am from Houston, Texas. I am majoring in Nursing and I tutor pharmacology. I have branched Nursing and will attend BOLC at Fort Sam Houston, Tx. I am looking forward to continuing nursing education to eventually become a CRNA.

In the pictures here you see me at CST doing land nav for a mission, me scrubbing in to assist in surgery at NSTP in Alaska, hiking Angel Rocks Trail in Alaska, paddle boarding/ice climbing the glaciers in Alaska, and finally me and my friends holding our preferred unit’s textbook as we get ready to graduate.

I’ve enjoyed my time at Stephen F. Austin more than thought I would and I can’t wait for what’s to come. Thank you to the Dewitt school of nursing and the lumberjack battalion 🫡”

Cadets at the range🪓

This past week Cadre taught and improved marksmanship among our Cadets. Cadets zeroed rifles, improved marksmanship fundamentals, and qualified with Alt-C targets. Cadets are now better prepared for CST and further in their military career.

🪓Be the Best🪓

SFA ROTC wrapped up an incredible FTX at Davy Crockett National Forest. Over the course of 48-hours, Cadets pushed their limits through back-to-back tactical lanes, day and night land navigation , and leadership rotations that challenged every one. Challenges like these build leaders of the future.

Every cadet brought their best with no excuses, no shortcuts. We came out of those woods sharper, more cohesive as a unit, and prepared to lead. None of this could’ve been done without supporting Cadets and Cadre. Be the Best, and Axe’em🪓.

Congratulations Felipe Galvan on taking the oath and officially contracting into the United States Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. This achievement reflects your dedication to leadership, service, and becoming part of something greater than yourself. We’re proud to have you representing the Lumberjack Battalion at Stephen F. Austin State University and can’t wait to see all you accomplish as a future Army officer. 🇺🇸
