SFA's inaugural Allied Health Professionals Conference is coming up on February 6th, 2026! This is a multidisciplinary conference, and for speech language pathologists and speech language pathologist assistants, the conference is offering up to 4 hours of TSHA Continuing Education, approval pending. If TSHA approval is granted, it does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products or clinical procedures. Registration includes lunch and parking. There will be multiple breakout sessions relevant to SLPs including a multi-disciplinary panel on Selective Eating in Autism, Implementing Informed Consent for Texture Modified Diets, and sessions covering assessment and treatment of speech with patients who have a cleft palate. Today we are celebrating Deena Petersen’s retirement at the end of this semester!! She has been a member of our CSD/SLP faculty for 15 years! 💜 Throughout her time at SFA, Mrs. Petersen has taught various undergraduate and graduate course including Language Disorders and Literacy and the SLP as well as supervising clinical experiences. She has been the Clinic Director of the Stanley Center for Speech and Language Disorders for the last 8 years and was integral in initiating and running the SPEAK OUT!® program at SFA.

Morgan Wright was an 2015 alumni of our graduate program and a light in her community. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her personally and professionally. 💜
It is with heartfelt condolences that Lufkin ISD shares the tragic passing of our beloved Speech Pathologist, Morgan Wright. Mrs. Wright was a true treasure to our district, touching countless lives with care and dedication. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and she will be profoundly missed. We extend our sympathies to her husband Friday Wright, their daughters, Morgan & Friday’s families, the Wells ISD community, and Morgan’s colleagues during this difficult time.
