The Distinguished Gentlemen Initiative - Mullins SC A middle-school aged brotherhood designed to increase academic, behavioral, and social capacities thru mentoring, community service, and scholarship.

Given the many challenges facing our youth today, the presence of a strong mentoring program has proven to make a difference by providing the confidence, skills, and motivation necessary to become productive citizens. The Distinguished Gentlemen Initiative is designed to increase their desire to succeed and excel in life, thus improving test scores and behavior issues at school. Our students attend weekly workshops that include tutoring, leadership seminars, and teamwork building activities after school. Distinguished Gentlemen are also expected to participate in all community service initiatives, to show them the importance of giving back to the community. Our young men are very eager to prove themselves worthy of the title, "Distinguished Gentlemen", and are always looking for ways to be of service.

Today, as always, was a great day to be a DG!!! We had the honor and pleasure to be visited by Head Coach Sean C. Brunson of the Mullins High School JV Men's Basketball Team. A long-time mentor of DG and deacon of St. Paul Baptist Church, Coach gave a very detailed and motivational presentation on persistence, dedication, and understanding that failure is a part of the process. Those that succeed usually fail more than others because they take more shots/swings, but they persevere and keep pushing (and keep shooting/swinging)!!! Thank you, coach💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿

Also, our guys enjoyed a meal sponsored by DG Aiden's mom, Ms. Tasha Rowell. We appreciate you.

Today, we had the honor and privilege of serving as ushers for Mr. Johnny Brown's homegoing ceremony. The The Distinguished Gentlemen Initiative - Mullins SC was near and dear to his heart as he is to ours and today's ceremony was definitely befitting of his humble, yet massive contributions to our community, country, and world.

Our young men were treated to pizza today for lunch. One student asked, "What did we do to deserve this?" I told him, "You agreed to become the best version of you...You became a DG and as such, people expect great things out of you, so you will be treated as such. Always do your best and be your best, and you will be rewarded."

It is always a great day to be a Distinguished Gentlemen. Yesterday, Tim Phillips stopped by Palmetto Middle School - Home of the Bulldogs to provide us with a very inspiring and motivational message about growing up in Mullins and how our small town and schools kick out phenomenal leaders. and has put him in rooms he never thought he would be in. He used himself as proof and challenged them to do the same. He also let us know that we all need more L.O.V.E (living outwardly valuing(yourself) EVERYDAY. DG is so fortunate to have the village behind us and we do not take it lightly. We vow to keep pushing for greatness and aim to make our elders proud!!!
