Based on the most recent weather forecasts, our area is expected to experience severe thunderstorms tomorrow. Among the primary concerns are strong wind gusts and the potential for tornado activity in our area, especiallytomorrow afternoon and evening.

To help ensure the safety of our students and staff, all schools will dismiss 2 1/2hours early tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2026.In addition, all after-school activities, including Kid-Care and athletic activities, are cancelled for tomorrow.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions and will provide additional updates if necessary.

Due to the continuous travel concerns caused by the weekend’s winter weather, Horry County Schools will implement another eLearning day on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. All extracurricular activities, including athletics and other events planned for February 3, 2026, will also be canceled.

All schools will be closed but will be operational with an eLearning day for all students and staff. Students who are unable to participate due to power outages, lack of a personal learning device or internet service, or other barriers will have the opportunity to complete assignments at a later date. School staff will communicate directions to students regarding their eLearning day.

HCS will send another update no later than 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, regarding any potential alterations to the school schedule for Wednesday.
