For another consecutive year, Horry County Schools students outperformed state averages on key academic benchmarks.

According to results recently released by the South Carolina Department of Education, HCS students surpassed statewide averages on SC READY, SC Career Readiness Tests, and End-of-Course (EOC) Tests during the 2025-2026 school year.

As HCS celebrates these record-setting achievements, the success of our campaign continues to demonstrate the important role strong literacy skills play in preparing students for academic excellence, career readiness, and lifelong learning.

Destination: EXCELLENCE in 26-27! We welcomed back our faculty today by having a delicious breakfast, getting to know each other better, hearing our goals for the year and discussing new initiatives! Thank you to our TOY, Tara McCoy for inspiring our work and setting the tone! Thank you to Hannah Sweat, our resident designer, for our super cool photo station! It was an awesome day of fellowship and learning. So happy to be back together in the Swamp! 🐊💚🚌

We welcomed our newest Gators to the Swamp in true FMS fashion! Introductions, breakfast, bags of Gator Gear, a tour of the building, time to work in classrooms, discussion of our mission at FMS, and we finished the day with a bus tour of our attendance area! We are so proud to add these amazing educators to our team! 🐊🚌
